The Life of Puppies, what you need to know before

From birth to weaning :

Our puppies are available beyond their 9th week.

From birth, all our puppies are used to being handled and in contact with different people on the farm (adults and young children), other domestic and farm animals (cats, sheep, etc.)

To get them used to the different sounds of everyday life, the life of our little puppies is sounded during the day (radio, TV), and this from their 15 days.

All our puppies are dewormed  every 15 days, vaccinated, identified by electronic microchip and have a veterinary examination after their 7th week (veterinarian certificate given upon departure).

Before adopting a puppy, you should know :

Cleanliness

- Let's start with the basics, a puppy at 9 weeks old is not clean, he will pee and stool on your floor, goodbye your  very clean living room!

at least for a while.  this is normal because depending on the puppy, it takes 4/5 months for the puppy to be able to hold himself back completely.  it's physiological.  a puppy means taking it out every 2 hours then 3 hours then 4 hours. Yes even at night. See him as an infant without diapers, there is nothing you can do about it and scolding him will only stress him unnecessarily. On the other hand, caught in the act you have to take him by saying no not here, you carry him outside, and you stay with him until he is outside and you have to congratulate him when he does.

This is valid for any breed of dog, it's the basic.

Foolery

- The puppy "doesn't know" that he has done something stupid if you scold him without having seen him at the time.

So yes he will lay down his ears and take on a guilty face, yes there are days when you will wrongly think that he is doing it on purpose because you you're tired and it comes at the wrong time, but he doesn't know why you're upsetting him and he will inevitably start his stupidity again because he hasn't made the connection with your anger. It will also only create stress and distance you in your relationship with him.

- I recommend for neophytes in education to go to puppy school as soon as you acquire a puppy, and/or to follow videos like Educ-doc,  I have also very good books to recommend to you that I would show you with pleasure when you come to see us.

Sport & Herd

-   No stairs in the 1st year of life , this can create joint disorders and dysplasia.

No cani-cross before 12 months, and cani-vtt before 18 months . You can prepare them on the basic orders (to the right, to the left, in front, stop) but for the traction itself,  you absolutely have to wait for the end of the growth so as not to developing osteo-articular problems that are totally counterproductive has the desired effect in this sport, which is above all to have fun together, you and your dog.

- for the work in the herd, the dog must declare himself, do not force him by wanting to go too fast you could frighten him or even hurt him if you introduce him to animals that are not appropriate to start the initiation to the herd (aggressive ram in particular, stressed lambs, vindictive ewes).

We are here to help you, advise you with your puppy and in the future, we will organize courses for our customers wishing to learn and improve in the herd or start cani-vtt in good conditions (story of you avoid injury to you and your American collie)

D-day

On D-Day, you have to count a good 2 hours, knowing that I would systematically reserve half a day for you, the clock hand is spinning quickly when we talk about dogs here

.

When they leave, the homemade puppy kit is included and includes:

  • A “Puppy Guide” booklet

  • An information booklet (Race, maintenance, education, health, etc.)

  • Food, special puppies, which   the puppy is used to.

  • Toy and cuddly toy with mom's scent for a safe start

Insofar as we are talking about being alive and sensitive, the breeding reserves the right to sell and verifies the commitment to the puppy and the consideration of his needs (health, environment, etc.). ..)
